Frequently asked questions
Is Lamplit really free?
Yes — completely free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no paywalls. Every feature is available to every user. We may earn small commissions through affiliate book links, but that never affects your experience or costs you anything extra.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Lamplit works entirely without accounts. Just download and start tracking. Your data stays on your device and syncs through your iCloud if enabled — we never ask for an email, password, or any personal information.
How do I sync my library across devices?
Lamplit automatically syncs through iCloud. Make sure iCloud is enabled on all your devices (Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud) and that Lamplit has iCloud access. Your library will appear on all your Apple devices within moments.
How do I import from Goodreads?
Go to Goodreads on a desktop browser, navigate to My Books → Import and Export → Export Library. This gives you a CSV file. In Lamplit, go to Settings → Import → Goodreads and select the CSV. Your books, ratings, dates, and shelves will transfer automatically.
What are NFC book tags?
NFC (Near-Field Communication) stickers are small, inexpensive tags you can stick inside your physical books. In Lamplit, you can link an NFC tag to a book. Then just tap your iPhone on the sticker to instantly start or stop a reading session — no need to open the app first. NFC stickers cost about $0.30 each and are available from most electronics retailers.
What iOS version do I need?
Lamplit requires iOS 17 or later. AI-powered features like "Search by vibe" and AI book discovery require iOS 26 or later with a compatible device. All other features work on iOS 17+.
How does the AI search work?
Lamplit uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to understand natural language queries about your library. You can search by mood ("something cozy"), theme ("books about belonging"), or vibe ("for a rainy Sunday afternoon"). Everything runs locally on your device — no data is sent to any server.
Can I delete all my data?
Yes. Deleting the Lamplit app removes all local data. To also remove iCloud-synced data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage and remove Lamplit's data. Since we don't store anything on our end, there's nothing else to delete.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Please email us at hello@lamplit.app with a description of what happened, what you expected to happen, and your device model and iOS version. Screenshots help too! We take every report seriously and aim to fix issues quickly.
